Precession Vortex Flowmeter: Advanced Gas Measurement Technology

The Precession Vortex Flowmeter (also known as Swirl Flowmeter) is a sophisticated flow measurement instrument designed specifically for gas applications. Utilizing the principle of fluid precession, this flowmeter combines the reliability of no-moving-parts design with exceptional sensitivity, making it the preferred choice for natural gas, compressed air, and steam measurement in demanding industrial environments.

Working Principle:

When fluid enters the flowmeter, it passes through a fixed swirl generator that imparts a rotational motion to the flow. This spinning vortex then enters an expansion section where it begins to precess (wobble) around the meter's centerline—similar to a tornado's motion. A piezoelectric sensor detects the frequency of this precession, which is directly proportional to the volumetric flow rate. The result is a highly stable signal with excellent low-flow sensitivity.
