When do we need to re-calibrate the running oval gear flow meters?
Recalibration of in-service oval gear flow meters is required in the following cases:
First, follow
regular scheduled cycles. Normally recalibrate every 6 to 12 months for general industrial use; shorten the interval to 3–6 months for metering in trade settlement, high-precision or harsh working conditions.
Second, perform unscheduled recalibration under these circumstances:
- Obvious deviation between meter readings and actual flow/weight data.
- After overhaul, disassembly, part replacement or major maintenance.
- When operating conditions change greatly, such as notable shifts in medium viscosity, temperature, pressure or flow rate.
- The meter suffers impact, severe vibration or pipeline accidents.
- After long-term standby and re-operation.
- Upon requirements from quality inspection, metrology supervision or customer audits.
Besides, recalibration is also needed if dirt, sediment or wear is found on internal gears, which may cause unstable operation and measurement errors.
